Laura Tapley
(LCSW, CEDS, EMDR Certified Therapist & Consultant in Training)
I understand that facing life’s challenges can feel overwhelming and isolating. I also believe that no one is broken, and healing is always possible. One of the most courageous things you can do is simply show up, and I’m here to meet you wherever you are on your journey.
I specialize in working with adolescents (ages 10 and up) and adults who are facing eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. I also support individuals coping with trauma, anxiety, and the complexities of chronic illness. My approach is rooted in strengths, resilience, and attachment, and I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including Family-Based Treatment (FBT), Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My goal is to create a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can safely explore and embrace your authentic self.
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), EMDR Certified Therapist™ and Consultant in Training, through both EMDRIA and IAEDP, I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique needs. I believe in honoring the mind-body connection and promoting a weight-inclusive, Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective. I’m dedicated to helping clients develop healthier relationships with food, body, and self, while building resilience and inner strength.
Currently, I practice at Chenal Family Therapy, PLC where I collaborate closely with a team of therapists, psychiatrists, dietitians, and medical professionals to provide comprehensive care. This multidisciplinary approach is key when working with individuals and families impacted by eating disorders, trauma, and chronic illness, ensuring that each client receives the support they need at every stage of recovery.
Beyond my work, I’m a lover of Mediterranean food, an avid podcast listener, and a world traveler. I strive to bring authenticity, empathy, and a bit of humor to each session, creating a space where you feel safe to explore, grow, and heal. No matter your story, I welcome you exactly as you are- regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability. I know it can be difficult to begin to change the things we fear in life, and yet it is these hard changes that are usually the ones most worth making.
If you’re ready for something different, I’m here to help you create the life you deserve, one that’s not just about surviving, but truly thriving. Together, we can uncover your inner strength and resilience, transforming life’s challenges into growth and lasting change!
