Christy Boozer, Intern
(Statewide Telehealth)
I am currently interning at Grand Canyon University with Chenal Family Therapy. I am pursuing a Master’s in Social Work with an expected completion date of August 2025. My career began in criminal justice, working at a prison and earning an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. Afterward, I transitioned to working for the school district where I spent eight years, ultimately earning my Bachelor of Science in Mid-level Education. During my final four years at the school district, I taught middle school math, discovering my passion for educating and molding young minds.
Though teaching continues to be a passion, my interests broadened beyond the classroom after a positive experience with EMDR therapy. Overcoming PTSD and trauma showed me the joys of life, inspiring me to pursue my Master’s in Social Work and a career in counseling. Specializing in Trauma and EMDR Therapy, my goal is to support others in overcoming PTSD and trauma. In September 2024, I am on track to complete my EMDR training, a technique I plan to use frequently to transform lives.
My guiding philosophy, ‘Change the world or die trying,’ drives me to make a positive impact wherever I go. I look forward to growing and learning on my journey toward becoming a licensed counselor, guided by my commitment and passion to help others in their healing and empowerment journey.
