Gabi Chavarria, Terapeuta

(LACA)

Gabi Chavarria, LAC earned her Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology: Prevention & Treatment from the University of Washington and additionally took classes at the University of Arkansas. She recently moved from the Pacific Northwest to NWA, serving parents and children from the most marginalized populations over the last 10 years.

Gabi has experience working with children and families in multiple settings including home visits, inpatient and medical settings, telemedicine, school, and groups. The approaches she utilizes are cognitive-behavioral, directive, and person-centered with a culturally competent and affirming lens.

Gabi has experience working with children and adolescents who struggle with challenging behaviors, peer and parent relationships and conflict, academic difficulties, social skills, depression, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, self-esteem, and other neurodiverse conditions. Additionally, Gabi has a passion for advocating for bilingual and other underrepresented populations by empowering her clients to celebrate their diversity, recognize their abilities, and create insight to heal past wounds. Providing psychoeducation, parenting support, school advocacy, resource binding, and creating that “village” not all families have yet need to thrive are important to Gabi when addressing each individual’s mental health needs.

Gabi believes deeply in the therapeutic relationship. She allows clients to be their most authentic selves and wants them to feel safe, open, and empowered to create the changes they want to see in their lives by addressing the systems surrounding them. She believes trust, empathy, genuineness, and collaboration are the key factors in creating the relationship.

In her spare time, she enjoys watching psychological shows, anything Marvel, cheering on the Seattle Sounders, exploring new eats, going to concerts, and creating memories with her family and friends. Her passions, 2 dogs, husband and two children (ages 10 and 6) are what keeps her going!
