The Link between Mental Health & Nutrition

Nutrition & Your Wellbeing

Over the past several years, research has shown the importance of good nutrition in relationship to your mental health. Recent evidence has shown that a number of mental health conditions may be influenced by your dietary habits. Research shows that those struggling with mental health problems report a lower intake of fresh fruits and vegetables and report a higher intake of unhealthy foods.

The goal of reaching a healthy body and mind can be better achieved with ensuring your dietary habits are balanced and healthy. Food groups should not be limited for every person, they should, however, be assessed by a registered dietitian to make sure your body is achieving the perfect balance of nutrition for your brain to work towards health as well. A healthy diet alongside the treatment of your therapist can work together to achieve a healthy body and mind.
