I have been a Licensed Certified Social Worker for the past 40 years. I graduated in 1976 with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. In 1979, I began working on my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. While in graduate school, I worked in the Alcohol Safety program which birthed my interest in court diversion, focused on addiction and sex offenders. I began my career with those diagnosed with a serious mental illness that provided an understanding of medications and symptomatology of severe illnesses. Across the years, I have seen the expansion of medications that treat mental illness. For the last 28 years, I have worked for a community mental health center in Hot Springs treating adults with a variety of mental health problems. For the last 20 years, I have participated in using yoga to help with increasing mindfulness. Through introspection, I gained an understanding of the value of mindfulness and conscious living. This has now become the focus of my practice.
