Bernadette Stanford began counseling to help individuals effectively address personal life challenges by empowering clients to uncover their true potential, achieve goals, and lead a life of growth and well-being by providing support, healing, and refocus. Bernadette is a Licensed Professional Counselor who holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. Her therapeutic approach is to provide compassionate care and understanding, integrating value sensitive principles, and research-based therapy techniques to build on strengths and attain understanding and direction in complex situations.

She provides services for individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children. She is a Registered Play Therapist, trained to work with children as young as 3 years old and focuses on strengthening attachments.

Bernadette is a trained trauma therapist who practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Brainspotting (BSP) therapies with clients who are experiencing symptoms of complex trauma. She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
